Hop off for lunch: markets and cafes on the route

Eat off the bus. The stops worth knowing are the ones with a market, a bakery, or a cafe that is not facing the castle queue.

Stockbridge and the Mile

If your loop reaches Stockbridge, that is the lunch stop. Independent shops and somewhere to sit. On the Royal Mile, walk one street north or south before you choose. The first cafe in sight is priced for the view.

Give yourself 45 minutes. Buses on a city loop are frequent in the middle of the day and thinner after late afternoon. Check the posted interval before you order pudding.
